RS must have rain and risk of hail on the holiday; see weather forecast

Rio Grande do Sul, which suffers from the damage caused by heavy rains brought by an extratropical cyclone at the beginning of the week, should be the target of more precipitation this holiday. According to Climatempo, the highest volumes of rain are expected, especially between Thursday (7) and Saturday (9).

This Wednesday (6), it should rain on the south and west borders of Rio Grande do Sul. In Porto Alegre, the rain should happen in isolation. In the Taquari Valley, the region that concentrates most of the deaths caused by heavy rains, the forecast is for little rain.

Even if the volume is small, it is already worrying. At the moment, there are three alerts for river flooding issued by the Civil Defense of the state:

  • Jacuí River and Jacuí Delta, from Triunfo;
  • Rio Taquari, from Estrela;
  • Rio Caí, from São Sebastião do Caí.

In the rest of Rio Grande do Sul, which includes the Taquari Valley, it should rain up to 40 mm and gusts of up to 60 km/h are expected.

forecast for the holiday

On Thursday, the weather should be very heavy across the state, with wind circulations that intensify the storm clouds. According to Climatempo, the entire state is on alert again. In addition to rain, wind gusts of up to 90 km/h are expected.

“It’s not a situation like what happened over the weekend. But, as it has already rained a lot, it is not possible to rule out the potential for new disorders in general”, explains Stefanie Tozzo, meteorologist at Climatempo.

The Taquari Valley, the north of the state and the Serrana Region should also have good rainfall on Friday (8) and Saturday.

From Saturday, precipitation begins to lose strength in the south and west of Rio Grande do Sul. The rest of the state should only have a decrease in the volume of rain on Sunday.
