Ruin in Britain with “Turkish teeth” – They go to Turkey for cheaper and trample it

A new dental trend has made its appearance and has already caused a lot of problems since many cases of failure have already been recorded. This particular trend has become known as “turkey teeth” and it is nothing but trips abroad in order for those interested to receive treatments at particularly low prices.

However, the specific trend, as reported by Daily Mail it has left many Brits facing painful complications and of course a much… lighter wallet as they pay a lot more money to correct the effects of the treatment they received.

The latest aesthetic trend, which has been popularized by TV personalities such as Katie Price and Jack Fincham of “Love Island”, involves the installation of cases or porcelain veneers.

The tendency “Turkey teeth» is supposed to leave customers with a bright smile comparable to that of Hollywood stars while already the corresponding hashtag #Turkeyteethis making the rounds on the internet and has been viewed more than 100 million times.

This trend was also addressed by the BBC, which wondered whether the potential dangers of “Turkey’s teeth” they are worth more than money which are saved by those who resort to these remedies. British dentists, however, warn that the possible complications may bring patients face to face with huge costs and pains in order to correct the bad techniques of the treatments done abroad.

Some dentists interviewed by the BBC said some of the remedial work is provided by the NHS.

A private clinic urged patients to be sure of what materials will be used on their teeth before sitting in the dentist’s chair, and one way would be to contact previous clients of the particular dentist.

The Harley Street Smile Clinic in London reported receiving a large number of young people suffering from severe infections, severe pain, infected gums or rotten teeth due to the operations they underwent during one of their trips.

In one case, Tiktok user Lisa Martyn revealed that her experience turned into a nightmare after she traveled to Turkey for the cosmetic treatment and paid €3,500.

She told the BBC:I was cheated out of my dream of having a full set of perfect teeth, which I would never have had a problem with, but I was grossly misled as to what they would do to me by selling them to me for china and not cases. No one sat down and told me the risks or if there were other options. I thought that once my new teeth were fitted, that would be it, there would never be any more problems. But not only have I been in excruciating pain every day since then, but it has also cost me thousands of euros. It’s the biggest mistake of my life.”

Lisa was found last year in Turkey believing she would have 26 porcelain veneers fitted in a bid to get her ‘Hollywood smile’ after she wanted to shine at her son’s wedding. But in reality she had cases placed, a highly invasive procedure.

Months after her treatment, the 48-year-old orshe was faced with excruciating pains and developed an abscess which nearly paralyzed half her face and suffers from nervous sensibility. Describing what happened, she said on social media: “I have never experienced anything like this in my life. Then they made holes… I was jumping out of the chair for two hours. No one asked me how I was or even offered me a glass of water. My mouth was so swollen it looked like something out of a horror movie. I was numb from my neck to the tip of my nose, but I could still have feeling in my mouth. I still didn’t know that all my natural teeth had been filed and that these were trays and not porcelain veneers. It was only after I returned home that one told me dentist from the United Kingdom. Now I am still in pain and have come to terms with the fact that I will have to have dentures and live with pain every day. I wanted to look good for my son’s wedding, but now I would give anything to know that on that day I won’t be in pain and agony.”

According to the BBC, the woman is unable to eat properly and has lost weight since the treatment.

Lisa shared her unpleasant experience on Tiktok to raise public awareness about the dangers that “hides” to go abroad for cheap treatments and emphasizes that the cost of restoring her teeth will cripple her financially.

Alicia Watts also traveled to Turkey to undergo surgery teeth five years ago and for a long time she considered this to be the best decision she had made in her life.

This year, however, the 27-year-old was faced with unbearable pain and infections with her dentist in the United Kingdom who took it upon her to emphasize that his colleague in Turkey had done “unacceptable work».

“Turkey teeth” have proven popular with influencers and TV stars, including model Katie Price.

In August 2020, the Katie Price shared a video on social media showing her natural teeth filed down to what she said made her look like a “James Bond villain” before new porcelain veneers were fitted while in Turkey.

The treatment took place after her original porcelain veneers had come out. However, in October of that year he had to return to Turkey again, since some of the new porcelain faces had also come out.

A representative for the star told The Sun at the time that she had to return to Turkey to have work done on her teeth corrected.

The star ofLove Island”, Jack Fincham, also underwent the same dental “operation” in Turkey before appearing on the reality show. It is worth noting that when the young man mentioned what he did to his teeth in Turkey, Google searches for the term “Turkey’s teeth” skyrocketed.

An investigation carried out on behalf of the BBC found that hundreds of dentists in the UK had dealt with patients suffering from complications after dental work carried out abroad.

Dr MJ Rowland-Warmann, director of a dental clinic in Liverpool, told the broadcaster: “If I put 20 trays on a 21-year-old to improve the color of his teeth, I’d have my license revoked, I’d be disbarred».

He said his clinic receives one to three calls a day from people who have problems with their teeth after traveling abroad, but his clinic cannot provide treatment. Some can’t floss because their cases are stuck together or they hurt because they have bleeding gums.

“But it’s easier for us not to take on this patient. If we take this patient on and do any work on his teeth, that’s when the problems really start and that’s when the British dentist becomes responsible. A risk we cannot take. This puts patients in a very vulnerable position trying to seek help, and it becomes very expensive to try to repair the damage that has been done.”

However, as the “Daily Mail” points out, not everyone who travels abroad for treatment is faced with complications.

The BBC also spoke to Tilly Entwhistle from Manchester, who said she was thrilled with the work done on her teeth in Turkey, with the repair essentially in her smile, since she was likened, as a child, to Bugs Bunny. However, he said that since returning to the UK and having to see a dentist, Mrshe was told that they were not going to touch her teeth, as they did not want to take responsibility for any problems with the work done in Turkey.
