Ruins of an ancient bath of the Byzantine period found on Lesvos

Greek archaeologists have unearthed the ruins of a bath in Lesvos, the oldest ever found on the island. According to preliminary estimates, it was built in the early Byzantine era, writes the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Greece.

In particular, the remains of baths for cold, warm and hot water, incinerators, as well as a three-meter marble gate, two meters wide, were found.

In addition, glazed dishes and bronze coins were found at the entrance to the bathhouse, presumably from the 6th-7th centuries A.D.
