At the end of last Tuesday (29), the markets went to sleep excited.
In reaction to rumors fanned by news involving the elected government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), almost all signaling a change in posture regarding the main agendas of the transition in the economy, the Stock Exchange rose by almost 2% and the dollar fell to R $5.29.
The biggest one is that Lula would have returned to considering other names for the Ministry of Finance, in particular that of elected vice president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB). According to the website Poder360, the idea is that Fernando Haddad (PT) — until yesterday the main candidate for the portfolio — goes to the Ministry of Planning, which should be recreated from 2023.
Other names were also mentioned for the Farm, according to Estadão Brodcast: Luiz Carlos Trabuco, from Bradesco, and Josué Gomes, from Fiesp. Rumor points out that the business sector could also be contemplated, relieving investors who feared a modus operandi more heterodox in the new economic management.
Also on Tuesday, PT and allies would have admitted that the PEC of the Transition, dubbed the PEC of the Explosion, could be dehydrated in Congress, mainly in the reduction of the value of R$ 198 billion and the period of 4 years of validity of the text. The proposal has already received more than the 27 signatures needed to start processing in the Constitution and Justice Committee of the Federal Senate and should be discussed soon.
The policy analyst CNN , Caio Junqueira, also found out that the president-elect would have met for more than 5 hours with economists from the transition group, in a meeting in which Lula listened more than he spoke. The general reading is that the spending ceiling no longer exists, in practice, and should be replaced — but not just by a new rule, but by more than one, configuring the need for a fiscal framework.
In this Wednesday’s episode, CNN Money brings the expectations of the transition of governments in the economy and analyzes of the newly quoted names for the main portfolios of the Lula government.
Presented by Thais Heredia and Priscila Yazbek, the CNN Money it presents a balance of the news subjects that influence markets, finances and the direction of society and the dynamics of power in Brazil and in the world.
