“Run the world”, the TV series from the same trendy DNA of “Sex and The City”

To get us out of the torpor ofhomewear in recent months comes the TV series of which the fashion victim they really needed: Run the world. That already starting from the title (it means “governs the world”) has conquered us. Then the plot details were added: the story takes place in New York (we like it), the protagonists are four friends struggling with heart problems, sex, professional life and worldly cheers (we like it), their wardrobe is tremendously cool (we are crazy).

And no, it’s not a already seen. Yes of course, we have noticed the similarities with Sex and The City, which then do not even end here. But let’s go in order. Run the world consists of eight episodes and debuts on May 16 on Starzplay. It is proposed as one sexier, modern and even more stylish version of our beloved 90s cult show. Possible? Seeing is believing: here we are talking about a series black girl power, a 360-degree homage to femininity.

What intertwines are the stories of a group of smart, funny and energetic, loyal and full of life African-American 30-year-olds who make a name for themselves in the world. The scene, however, does not take place in Manhattan but Harlem. Warning: we are really light years away from the usual ones cliché about black women struggling to get out of the ghetto. Amber Stevens West, Andrea Bordeaux, Bresha Webb e Corbin Reid they are the actresses who lend their image to successful and established professionals, absolutely contemporary and independent.

To mirror theirs empowerment a wardrobe glamour which Carrie Bradshaw would certainly approve of. Also because it was chosen by Patricia Field (together with Tracy L. Cox), one of the most popular costume designers on the small and big screen. We give thanks to her, in fact, for the marvelous ones stake, not only of SATC, but also de The devil wears Prada ed Emily in Paris.

We do not yet know exactly the brands selected to design the personal style of the four main characters but Field, before filming, was spotted among Chanel, Dior and Gucci boutiques in SoHo. The leaders of the largest House they were fashionable then mixed with accessories and details of color designers and other brands. Patricia herself stated a WWD: «I am happy that the black designers have the opportunity to show their work. The black girls they definitely have their own style. I am aware of it and I like it, so I felt free to combine patterns, shades and accessories to build the look of the protagonists ».

Which we can’t wait to admire and which, from the first photos at our disposal, has already conquered and inspired us for summer shopping.
