Russell Cook, the man nicknamed the 'Hardest Geezer', has successfully run the length of Africa, crossing the finish line in Tunisia after 352 days. Before starting the challenge to run across Africa, he said he hoped to look back at some point in his life and have no regrets. The 27-year-old, from Worthing, West Sussex, said he had previously struggled with his mental health, with gambling and drink, and wanted to “make a difference”. After running in 16 countries, he raised over £700,000 for charity and completed his final run.
