To date, 41 cases of Omicron variant infection have been reported in Russia, said Anna Popova, head of Russia’s Rospotrebnadzor consumer health regulator, adding that all patients were hospitalized.
“The condition of all the patients is stable, in addition because most of them are immune,” Popova said.
The Omicron variant, unlike previous coronavirus variants, infects mice and rats, Popova said.
“Already two results of our research to date tell us that we can clearly see that the new Omicron strain infects mice and rats. “They were not sensitive to them. Today we see that they are infected and the disease develops in their body,” Popova said.
