Russia: 5 Ukrainian soldiers killed at border – Ukrainians talk about fake news

The Russian army and border guards prevented a group from crossing the Russian border from Ukrainian territory, the press service of the Southern Military District reported, according to the Russian news agency Ria Novosti.

“A unit of the Southern Military District together with a border guard unit of the Russian Federal Security Service prevented a sabotage group from violating the Russian border from the territory of Ukraine,” the statement said.

The report adds that during the exchange of fire, two vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces entered Russian territory to remove the offenders. Both vehicles were destroyed.

Five soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces were killed, while no Russian soldiers were injured, the report concludes.

For its part, Ukraine, according to Reuters, is talking about false news from Russia. The Ukrainian military also says there are no Ukrainian forces in the area near Rostov-on-Don.
