Russia: Arrest warrant for author of Metro 2033 for criticizing war in Ukraine

The Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, who wrote the book “Metro 2033”, is facing problems with justice in his country, as an arrest warrant was issued against him, because he publicly criticized war in Ukraine.

The 42-year-old author, in a post on the Telegram messaging center, says he is accused of “discrediting the Russian armed forces” in an Instagram post and accusing Vladimir Putin of being responsible for the war.

“I am ready to repeat everything I wrote in it: Stop the war! “Accept that this is a war against an entire nation and stop it,” the author added.

Thus, the Moscow-based Basmani court told Russian news agencies that on May 13 it had ordered “Glukhovsky’s solitary confinement” and that the Russian Interior Ministry had registered the author, who is most likely abroad, on the wanted list.

It is noted that Dmitry Guhovsky became world famous with the bestseller “Metro 2033” in which deals with a world destroyed by nuclear weaponswith the only survivors of humanity being in the Moscow metro, which functions as a nuclear shelter.

He has stood out for the fact that he opposes any kind of violence while in his books he has made special references to characterswhere use the pretext of freedom and survival, in order to realize their ambitions through violence.
