Russia attacks Kiev television tower, says Ukrainian official

Russian forces attacked a television tower in Ukraine’s capital Kiev, potentially disrupting its signal, Ukrainian Interior Ministry adviser Anton Herashchenko said on social media on Tuesday.

Local television channel 1+1 said it would work to restore any lost signals.

The area around a massive TV tower in Kiev has been hit by military attacks, according to videos and photos posted on social media that have been geolocated and verified by CNN International.

“The channels will not work for a while,” the Ukrainian ministry said in a statement. “Backup streaming of some channels will be enabled in the near future.”

On Tuesday, the Russian military warned that it would carry out attacks against Ukraine’s State Security Agency and “the 72nd Main Center for Information and Psychological Operations”. [PSO] in Kiev”.

It is unclear at this point whether these new attacks were targeting any of these Ukrainian state entities.
