Russia’s telecommunications regulator has blocked the website of the non-governmental organization OVD-Info, which has been monitoring the Kremlin for years, following a court ruling, Interfax news agency reported today.
The news agency reported that the decision to restrict access to the website ovdinfo.org was issued by a court in the Moscow region on December 20.
Russia has labeled the OVD-Info group a “foreign agent” in September in a move that critics say is aimed at quelling dissent.
Moscow has recently labeled several media outlets “foreign agents,” a legal designation used by authorities for foreign-funded organizations involved in political activities.
