The team of eight doctors could not stop despite the flames and so continued its work on the ground floor while the building was filled with smoke.
THE fire at a hospital in Blagovetsk, in the Russian Far East, broke out late in the morning at the surgery clinic and 128 people had to be evacuated.
«We could not stop, we had to save this man. The operation was completed without any difficultiesSaid Valentin Filatov, chief physician at Rossiya 24.
“There was no panic,” said another doctor, Antonina Smolina, as reported by the Athens News Agency.
“It was difficult to bring the fire under control because it was active all over the area, at 1,600 square meters,” said Constantin Rimbalko, deputy director of the area’s emergency services.
As soon as the operation was completed and the doctors made sure that the patient was well, they removed him from the hospital with him. The patient was taken to another hospital, according to local authorities.
The fire was caused by an electrical fault, according to the first data. It was brought under control without any injuries.
The local authorities announced that they will award a medal to the doctors for their devotion and to the firefighters who put out the fire.
