Russia: Court fines Ovsyannikova for anti-war message in Ukraine

A Russian court has fined Marina Ovsyannikova 30,000 rubles (255 euros) after she was found guilty of violating the law on protests in Ukraine. the RIA Novosti.

Marina Ovsyannikova, an employee of Russia’s first public television channel, interrupted the station’s main news bulletin by holding placards behind the presenter with anti-war messages in Ukraine and shouting slogans against the Russian invasion.

The caption read: “No war! Stop the war. Do not believe in propaganda. You are being lied to here!”

The unprecedented protest came 19 days after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which Moscow calls a “special military operation.”
