Moscow will deliver its security guarantees to the United States through diplomacy this week, a spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peshkov said, without elaborating on how and at what level the proposals would be delivered.
The Russian president had recently called on NATO to hold substantive talks aimed at giving Russia “credible and long-term guarantees.” Moscow will insist on dialogue with Washington and its allies on “concrete agreements” that would preclude further NATO advancement, as well as the installation of weapons systems that pose a threat to Russia in the immediate vicinity of the border. The Russian president had said that Russia “needs legal guarantees, because the Western partners did not fulfill the relevant commitments given orally”.
