Russia: Fine on Google for not deleting “illegal” content

Moscow court ruled today fine of 6.5 million rubles (76,884 euros) to the company Googleof Alphabet Inc, because it did not delete content that Russia considers it illegal, in the context of a wider dispute between Moscow and the American giant in the field of information technology. Google not responded immediately to a request from Reuters to comment on the decision.

Earlier today, Russia had threatened to block it YouTube after the deletion of the German-language channels of the supported by the Russian state radio and television network RT (Russia Today), broadcasts the APE BPE.

It is worth noting that Russian justice imposes – almost regularly – fines and social media companies – sometimes for non-removal of “illegal” material, sometimes for violations of the legislation regarding personal data.
