Russia: Gas flows to Poland via the Yamal-Europe pipeline have increased

The Yamal-Europe pipeline, which normally carries Russian gas to Western Europe, sent gas to Poland for the 12th day today in increased quantities, according to data from the German network operator Gascade.

Flows at the Mallnow measuring point on the German-Polish border were heading east to Poland at an hourly rate of at least 5.2 million kWh (kWh / h) this morning, according to figures from about 1.2 million kWh / h in previous days. 24 hours.

The pipeline is an important route for Russian gas exports to Europe.

At the same time, requests for currents to the west of Germany at the Mallnow metering station yesterday, Friday, for the 1st of January at 8.3 million kWh / h and now are at least 6 million kWh / h.

The results of the auctions show that the Russian gas export company Gazprom has the possibility of transit for exports through the Yamal-Europe pipeline for today.

The company held 8.3m kWh / h of transit through the Yamal-Europe pipeline for January at auction last month.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week that Germany was reselling Russian gas to Poland and Ukraine instead of calming an overheated market, blaming the reverse flow and soaring prices on gas importers in Germany.

The German Ministry of Economy refused to comment on Putin’s statements. Gas importers did not respond to Reuters requests for comment.

Gas traders are relying on stocks to supply European buyers and avoid paying near-record prices, industry sources and market analysts said, explaining the unusual reversal of the pipeline flow.
