LAST UPDATE: 11.30
The expansion of the list of “unfriendly” countries to Russia was announced by the Kremlin on Friday, according to the Russian news agency, Ria Novosti.
Greece, Denmark, Slovenia, Croatia and Slovakia have been added to this list, according to the relevant announcement.
The relevant decree that was signed specifies the number of employees that the embassies and consulates of these states can hire in Russia.
So, Greece has a limit of 34 people, Denmark 20 and Slovakia 16. Slovenia and Croatia can no longer employ local staff in their diplomatic missions and consular offices.
“The list approved by the government is not final and, given the ongoing hostile actions by foreign states against Russian delegations abroad, may be further expanded,” the statement said.
Last May, similar restrictions were imposed on the US and Czech embassies.
It is recalled that at the end of June eight Greek diplomats were declared persona non grata by the Russian state.
