Russia has certified domestic electric trucks. They are produced in the Kaluga region

Yesterday, June 28, the Chinese Automobile news outlet, citing its sources, reported that Kangaroo Electro’s electric cargo vehicle had been certified in Russia. Moreover, the manufacturer received a vehicle type approval certificate for the model in four modifications at once, but, unfortunately, so far we are talking only about a small batch of cars in 150 copies. We are talking about a model of a four-wheeled truck J2-P, which was developed by a Russian startup and is produced at a plant located in the Kaluga region.

It is worth noting that the Russian company Kangaroo Electro has indeed created a fully electric freight vehicle, and this is a single-seat truck, which distinguishes it from the background of its “large-sized” counterparts. The design of the truck is also quite interesting – the engine is located transversely above the rear axle of the vehicle, and the potential buyer gets a choice of two electric motors – with a capacity of 5.4 and 6.8 horsepower (yes, the characteristics of the truck are correct, no typos). The vehicle also provides a choice of two lithium battery options – with a capacity of 105 and 206 ampere-hours. Accordingly, depending on the battery, the truck can travel 80 or 170 kilometers on a single charge.

To increase the mileage per charge, the truck buyer can separately purchase an optional solar panel that will recharge the battery during the trip. True, so far there is no information on the effectiveness of this solution. The equipment of the vehicle also includes a refrigeration unit (for the cargo compartment), air conditioning and a heater for the passenger compartment. In technical terms, the cargo compartment, surprisingly, turned out to be very roomy. The characteristics of the vehicle indicate that the maximum allowable load is 1025 kilograms, while the total volume of the compartment is 2 cubic meters.

The only noticeable drawback of this truck is its cost, against which the characteristics of the vehicle seem a little underestimated. The fact is that the basic version of the car costs 1.06 million rubles, while the top-end truck costs 1.72 million rubles. Probably, in the future, the truck will pay for itself (50 kilometers will cost 10 rubles), but at the moment the price seems cosmic. For example, Qingzhou Runhorse Holding electric trucks, the prototypes of which are Kangaroo Electro models, cost about 200-300 thousand rubles in China.
