The first received samples of 3D printing will be returned to Earth to study the characteristics made using additive technologies (that is, layer-by-layer build-up and synthesis of objects). This will allow a comprehensive study of the impact of microgravity on 3D printing.

Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Artemiev, Denis Matveev and Sergei Korsakov will be the first to work with the printer. The printer is scheduled to be delivered to the ISS on the Progress MS-20 cargo spacecraft in June 2022.

Roscosmos emphasizes:

The development of additive technologies will open up new opportunities for the use of 3D printing for domestic astronautics! For example, in lunar expeditions, astronauts will not depend on the delivery of nodes from Earth, but will be able to print them in space.
