Russian diplomacy has decided to deport two Finnish diplomats from Russia in retaliation for a similar measure taken by Helsinki, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Finnish ambassador was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry today, according to the announcement. During the talks, Russian diplomacy “strongly protested” the expulsion of two Russian diplomats from the Russian embassy in Helsinki.
“The ambassador was informed that in response to the actions of the Finnish authorities, the Russian side has decided to ban the stay of two members of the Finnish embassy on Russian territory,” the statement said after Helsinki announced its historic bid to join Finland. NATO, in a decision that is directly related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
A similar historic decision was made by Sweden at the same time.
