On November 28, the last of the Glonass navigation apparatus in reserve was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome. He was assigned the number 761 (16th working point), and at the moment he is at the stage of integration into the system. This was reported by the TASS agency with reference to the Information and Analytical Center for Coordinate and Time Support.
This satellite was the only device of the Glonass-M series, which remained in ground reserve. A year ago, information appeared that it was removed from storage. In the future, it is planned to launch only new generation models. To date, the orbital constellation includes 26 vehicles, 22 of which are used for their intended purpose, two are at the stage of commissioning, one is in reserve, and one more is undergoing flight tests. On November 10, the Glonass-M satellite number 735 (22nd operating point) was withdrawn from the GLONASS orbital constellation.
Satellites of the Glonass-M series were produced until the end of July 2015. There were nine such devices in the ground reserve. To replace them, next-generation satellites are being prepared: Glonass-K and Glonass-K2.
