Russia has restricted access to the website of German newspaper Die Welt following a prosecutor’s request, according to the Russian federal agency responsible for media monitoring and censorship, Roskomnadzor.
Russian officials accuse the West of spreading false information about what Moscow calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine.
Since Russia sent troops into neighboring Ukraine on February 24, Russian authorities have blocked or restricted access to the BBC, Voice of America, Deutsche Welle and other media outlets.
It was not immediately clear why prosecutors requested the restriction on access to the welt.de website.
Roskomnadzor did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.
