Russia investigates train derailment due to improvised bomb

Russia has launched a formal investigation into a train derailment after an improvised bomb exploded. The announcement was made by Investigative Committee on its official Telegram channel.

A video released by investigators on Saturday shows officers analyzing the crash scene.

The bomb was placed on a section of railway in the Russian region of Ryazan, according to a statement from the Committee. They claim that 19 carriages of a freight train were derailed in the incident.

In a statement, the railway operator reported that a company assistant suffered minor injuries.

There is no information about who was responsible for the incident, but Russia accuses Ukraine of a series of attacks on its territory. In addition, Ukrainian-aligned Russian soldiers have also carried out sporadic offensives in southern Russia.
