There are already 16,835 of them in the world – the growth for the year was 57.5%. The largest number of ATMs with Bitcoin support is in the USA: 81% of the total world number (13,699). Canada is in second place – it has 7.5% of the total.
Despite the fact that in some countries the number of such ATMs is growing (for example, in the United States), in others the opposite trend is observed. So, as of May 2019, there were 266 ATMs with Bitcoin support in Austria, and at the moment there are only 153 of them. The same is true in the UK: there were 283, and now there were 199. In total, there are 1273 such ATMs in Europe at the moment.
North America and Europe are the geographical leaders in this area, but if you do not take them into account, the largest number of ATMs working with Bitcoin are in Hong Kong (85), Russia (53) and Colombia (46). So, despite the relatively small number of such devices we have, Russia is still among the top countries where Bitcoin can be bought through an ATM.
