Russia is developing a smart parachute with GPS. He delivers the goods to the right place

The Technodinamika holding, which is part of the Rostec structure, has patented a smart parachute system and a parachute cargo harness that will allow the cargo to be lowered in a fully automatic mode. High accuracy of delivery to the destination is provided by GLONASS or GPS. Now the cargo parachute is undergoing flight and design tests, according to the website of the state corporation Rostec.

Oleg Yevtushenko, Executive Director of Rostec, noted that the domestic development is intended for landing from a height of up to 8 km, the deviation from the landing site under standard weather conditions should not exceed 100 m. The parachute system and cargo harness were developed by the Ivanovo Parachute Plant “Polyot”.

The parachute system includes a landing platform, a parachute with a controlled canopy and equipment that provides automatic flight and guidance of the entire system. The parachute is able to withstand a load of up to 250 kg, if necessary, the payload can be increased to 500 kg. It can be dropped in guidance mode using GLONASS/GPS coordinates using a digital communication channel from the ground, or in “slave” mode, when the smart parachute follows the “leading” paratrooper.

By the end of this year, the prototype will be transferred for testing to the State Flight Test Center of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Now experts are determining methods for using the parachute system on various aircraft that are in service with the Russian army.
