Russia: Man sentenced to life in prison for attempted murder of nationalist writer

A military court in Moscow today sentenced a man to life in prison after finding him guilty of attempting to kill Russian nationalist author Zakhar Prilepin with a car bomb he planted last year, the Interfax news agency reported. Alexander Permyakov, who has Russian and Ukrainian citizenship according to Russian media, was arrested shortly after the May 6, 2023 attack near the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod, about 400 kilometers east of Moscow.
