Russia: McDonald’s reopens under ‘Vkusno & tochka’ brand new ownership

Under new ownership and under the name “Vkusno & tochka” (Delicious – dot and hyphen in free translation) opened on Sunday morning in Russia the first 15 restaurants that belonged to the fast food chain McDonald’s.

Thousands of Russians waited impatiently for their reopening and formed queues outside restaurants early in the morning, although the queue at Pushkinskaya Square was said to be much shorter than in 1990 when the first McDonald’s opened.

The iconic burger and McNuggets may be missing from the new menu, but a new company official insisted the products remain the same and have not changed.

Although Alexander Merkulov told Reuters that the McDonald’s equipment and the ingredients used to make the burger are the same, it is not clear if all the recipes of the “new” restaurant are the same as before. In fact, a 15-year-old stated that “Coca Cola is different and there is no change in the burger. The taste remains the same, “he said characteristically.

At the same time, the slogan in the new brand states that “the name changes, love remains”. The logo of the new fast food is the letter “M” which consists of two french fries and a small burger. At the same time, the menu of the new brand is more limited than before. This is because it does not include the Big Mac and some other burgers. A double cheesburger costs 129 rubles (160 was at McDonald’s), while a fish burger costs 169 rubles (190 rubles at McDonald’s).
