Russia: Medvedev describes sanctions as ‘declaration of economic war’ against Russia

Sanctions against Russia could be seen as an act of aggression aimed at undermining financial independence, Russian Security Council Vice President Dmitry Medvedev was quoted as saying by the Telegram channel, according to Russia’s Ria Novosti news agency.

“In essence, this is a declaration of economic warfare. Given all the legal and political circumstances, one can conclude that sanctions in the current situation can be described as an act of aggression against Russia in the form of a hybrid war,” Medvedev said.

“In this case, the aggrieved state, namely Russia, has the right to individual and collective defense under national law and international law. No one should have any doubt that Russia will exercise this right with the form and within the limits it deems appropriate “, he added.
