More than 30 warships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet have set sail from the ports of Sevastopol and Novorossiysk as part of a naval exercise, the Russian fleet command said.
“More than 30 ships of the Black Sea Fleet sailed from Sevastopol and Novorossiysk as part of the exercises,” the Russian fleet said in a statement.
On Thursday, an additional six Russian warships arrived for naval exercises in the Black Sea, near the Crimean peninsula that Moscow annexed in 2014 from Ukraine, coming from the Mediterranean.
Russia announced last month that its navy would conduct exercises involving all its fleets from the Pacific to the Atlantic, in the latest show of strength in its confrontation with the West over Ukraine.
