The North Atlantic Alliance is preparing for a large-scale armed conflict with Russia, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said today while briefing military ombudsmen and representatives of foreign embassies accredited in Moscow.
“The military build-up of the alliance is completely redirected to the preparation of a large-scale, high-intensity military conflict with Russia,” Fomin said.
According to Fomin, in recent NATO documents that reflect his doctrine, such as the 2019 NATO strategy, the Russian Federation is directly named “without a doubt as the main source of threats to the security of the coalition.” ”
At the same time, Fomin pointed out that “the Declaration of Rome remains in force.” “It specifically states that Russia and the Alliance do not view each other as enemies. This position was confirmed at the Russia-NATO Council summit in Lisbon in 2010,” Fomin said.
Fomin also said that the North Atlantic Alliance had used the events in Ukraine as a pretext to cut off cooperation with Moscow.
