Russia prevents drone attack on oil refinery: officials

Russia’s air defense systems destroyed several drones as they approached the Ilsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region near the Black Sea, local officials said Sunday.

“Several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) tried to approach the territory of the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai,” emergency officials in the region explained on the Telegram messaging channel.

“Everyone was neutralized, the plant’s infrastructure was not damaged,” they continued.

Authorities did not say who launched the attack. Reuters was unable to independently verify the report.

On Saturday (27), Moscow said Ukraine had hit pipeline installations deep inside Russia.

Kiev almost never publicly claims responsibility for attacks inside Russia and in Russian-controlled territory in Ukraine.

The Ilsky refinery, near the port of Novorossiisk on the Black Sea, has a processing capacity of around 6.6 million tonnes per year. The site has been attacked several times this month.
