THE Russia today filed the first criminal case against one journalist for the publication of “false information” concerning actions of the Russian armywhich is punishable under the new law with up to 15 years in prison.
The Inquiry Committee states in its announcement that “prosecuted journalist Alexander Nevzorov” who “knowingly published false information about the bombing of a maternity hospital in Mariupol (southeast of Ukraine) by the Russian army».

Earlier today, Russian lawmakers approved a bill that provides for criminal prosecution for “false information” referring to all Russian government agencies operating abroad, adopting a new crackdown on Russian intelligence attack on Ukraineas the French Agency writes.
This law, which was adopted in third reading, is complementary of the law passed in early March and provides for up to 15 years in prison for publishing “false information” concerning the Russian military.
