Russia: Provocations like that of the British warship require a tough response

The voyage of the British warship HMS Defender near Crimea, in waters that Moscow considers as its territory is the kind of provocation that requires a harsh response. This was announced by Kremlin today, according to Reuters.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov told Russian state television that the incident was “a well-planned provocation” and that President Putin’s reaction made it clear that any challenge would be met. In fact, Mr. Peshkov added that “it is obvious, of course, that the reaction will be harsh.”

In fact, the Kremlin spokesman – indirectly – reiterated the position of the Russian president, who accused Washington and London of plotting the incident together. “I think our secret services, of course, know who made the decision. “And of course the essence of the issue in this kind of business is being planned by the same partners – those who are across the ocean,” Peshkov said.

It is recalled that a Russian naval vessel fired warning shots at the British navy, when it was considered to be violating Russian territorial waters off the coast of Crimea.

Tensions in the Black Sea region have escalated since military exercises involving NATO and Ukrainian forces – high schools under the watchful eye of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.
