Russia says dozens of foreign fighters fighting alongside Ukrainians killed in Donetsk

Russian armed forces have killed several dozen foreign fighters in an attack on a Foreign Legion unit fighting alongside Ukrainians near Kostanivka in the Donetsk region, the Russian Defense Ministry said, adding that most of the dead were Poles.

The Foreign Legion, part of the Ukrainian army, rarely releases information about its casualties and does not give any information about its composition.

The Russian Air Force also bombed positions of the Ukrainian armed forces near Zaitsev in the Donetsk region, according to Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

Missile strikes caused heavy casualties at an artillery unit near the (southern) city of Mykolaiv, the spokesman added, but Ukrainian officials said only civilian infrastructure was hit.

According to information from both sides, Russian forces hit eight command posts in Donetsk and Mykolayiv regions and also destroyed several ammunition depots in Donetsk.
