Her army of Russia took over a small village in the Donetsk region of the east Ukrainianas announced by the Ministry of Defense in Moscow yesterday Thursday (18/1).
“The village of Vesele came under our control” pointed out the Ministry of Defense.
The German Agency, as reported by the Athens News Agency, notes that it was not able to independently confirm this information.
There has been no reaction from Ukraine at this stage.
As there are several villages with the same name in this region, it is not clear which one it is.
However, Russian media reported that it is a small village south of the city of Solentar, which had a population of about 100 inhabitants before the war.
Most of the Donetsk region is currently controlled by the Russian army. Moscow announced its annexation last year, a move seen as a violation of international law and not recognized by most of the international community.
Hostilities continue to be concentrated in the eastern and southern parts of Ukrainian territory. The Ukrainian counteroffensive launched in the summer of 2023 had limited results.
Kiev vows to retake all territory seized by Moscow's forces, including the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by the Kremlin in 2014.
