Russia says that Zelensky’s letter to Trump about negotiation is positive

Russia said on Wednesday that Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement that the country is ready to negotiate about the war is positive, but it is not yet clear to the Russian government with whom they would make the discussions.

Donald Trump said he received a letter from Zelensky on Tuesday (4). The revelation was made during a republican speech to the US Congress.

“Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring a closer lasting peace. No one wants peace more than Ukrainians, ”Trump commented in a speech to Congress while quoting the letter.

Asked how the Russian government sees Zelensky’s letter to Trump, spokesman Dmitry Peskov replied, “Positively.”

But he added: “The question is to sit with [para negociar]. For now, the Ukrainian President is still legally forbidden to negotiate with the Russian side. So, in general, the approach is positive, but the nuances have not yet changed. ”

Peskov referred to a 2022 Zelensky decree that ruled out negotiations with President Vladimir Putin. In addition, Russia alleges the president’s illegitimacy and that he should have made elections when his term expired last year.
