The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Friday (28) that the United States gave Moscow its official blessing to appoint Alexander Darchiyev as its new ambassador in Washington.
The American side handed over an official note giving Darchiyev’s green light during negotiations with Russia in Istanbul on Thursday (27), the ministry said.
Darchiyev, currently head of the North American Department of the Foreign Ministry, will leave for Washington soon. Moscow has not had a US envoy since the last ambassador left his post in October.
