Russia scolds US for comments on grain deal

Russia’s ambassador to Washington scolded the United States on Sunday for making what he said were false statements about Moscow’s decision to suspend its participation in a UN-brokered Black Sea grain deal.

“Washington’s reaction to the terrorist attack on the port of Sevastopol is truly outrageous,” Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said on Telegram. “We have not seen any sign of condemnation of the reckless actions of the Kiev regime.”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said on Saturday it was suspending its participation in the grain deal with Ukraine for an “indefinite period of time”, linking the decision to a drone strike in Crimea on Saturday.

“All indications that British military experts were involved in organizing the massive drone strike are disregarded,” Antonov said.

Britain dismissed Russia’s claims as false.

US President Joe Biden denounced Russia’s move on the grain deal as “purely outrageous” and said it would increase hunger.
