Russia sends increased levels of radioactivity to Chernobyl – Paratroopers

Ukraine’s nuclear service announced on Friday that increased levels of radioactivity were being recorded from the site of the inactive Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Experts of the Ukrainian service did not provide exact data on the levels of radioactivity, but stressed that the increase is due to the movement of heavy military equipment in the area that lifts the radioactive dust.

The Chernobyl nuclear power plant has been seized by Russian forces, Mikhail Pontolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian president’s office, said on Thursday.

According to Reuters, the Ukrainian officials said that “it is impossible to say that the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is safe after a completely pointless attack launched by the Russians.”

“This is one of the most serious threats in Europe today,” Pontoliak added.

Alongside Russia will deploy paratroopers for the guarding of the nuclear power plant, announced a spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense on Friday morning.
