Russia: Successful test of the Zircon supersonic missile

Successful test launch of a Zircon supersonic cruise missile Russia today Saturday, as announced by the Ministry of Defense.

According to the APE-MPE, the rocket was launched from the Barents Sea, hitting a target in the White Sea. A relevant video of the Russian Ministry of Defense shows the launch of the rocket from a ship, but also the abrupt trajectory of the flight that followed.

Vladimir Putin has described the Zircon missile as a weapon belonging to the new generation of unrivaled Russian new technology weapon systems.

The supersonic weapons can fly at speeds that can reach nine times the speed of sound, while Russia has carried out test launches of Zircon from warships and submarines last year.

The Russian armed forces have suffered heavy casualties in both manpower and weapons systems during their three-month invasion of Ukraine, which Moscow describes as a “special military operation.”

However, Russia continues to conduct spectacular testing of weapons systems in order to remind the world of the advanced dynamics of its missile technology.

Last month, it launched a test launch of the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, which can carry ten or more warheads capable of hitting US soil.
