Russia tells UN it will make its own resolution on humanitarian situation in Ukraine

Russia will present its own draft resolution on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, Moscow’s ambassador to the United Nations said on Tuesday (15).

Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia also said that Russia will stop its invasion when the objectives of “its special military operation in Ukraine are achieved, including demilitarization”.

This Tuesday, delegations from Russia and Ukraine resumed negotiations by videoconference, after a “technical pause” on Monday (14). Regarding the talks, one of the main Ukrainian negotiators, Mykhailo Podoliak, said that the meeting addresses “issues of general regulation, ceasefire and withdrawal of troops from the territory”. The talks were labeled “difficult” by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Russians want Ukraine to change its constitution to safeguard neutrality (outside NATO), in addition to considering Crimea as Russian territory and recognizing the breakaway republics of Donetsk and Lugansk as independent territories.
