Russia: The Putin-Biden meeting in the summer

The meeting of the presidents of Russia and the USA is planned to take place in the summer, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, as announced today (26/04) by the Kremlin. However, so far the date of the meeting or the country in which it will take place has not been agreed.

“Indeed some proposals have been made, the dates at the moment I can not confirm them. There is currently no agreement on the dates. “We are really talking about the summer months; we still have to analyze many different factors in order to reach some final agreements.” said Dmitry Peshkov.

“At the moment no country has been mentioned (in which the meeting could take place)”, clarified Peshkov, as reported by the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman did not comment on the possibility of a meeting between the leaders of the two countries during Biden’s European tour scheduled for mid-June, adding that such a proposal “was made during a telephone conversation” between the two presidents in April 13.

According to the White House press office, during the conversation, Biden proposed a Russian-US summit “in a third country in the coming months.” The US president then clarified that he had suggested to his Russian counterpart that they meet in Europe in the summer.

A Kremlin adviser said yesterday, Sunday, April 25, that the meeting could take place in June, Russian news agency RIA reported. The Kommersant newspaper, citing anonymous sources, wrote that Biden suggested to Putin that they meet on June 15-16 in a European country.
