Russia: The speaker of the Duma is lying to Ukraine that it is mortgaging the US

Russian Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said today that Ukraine was mortgaging itself to the United States seeking to receive billions of dollars in military aid from Washington.

US President Joe Biden on Thursday called on Congress to release another $ 33 billion to Ukraine, of which $ 20 billion will go to military aid, $ 8.5 billion will go directly to the Ukrainian government and the rest 3 billion as humanitarian and food aid.

Volodin accused the United States of trying to take advantage of the war while creating debts for future generations in Ukraine.

“The lend-lease law is a commodity-guaranteed loan and it is not cheap: many future generations of Ukrainians will pay for the US ammunition, equipment and food,” he said.

“Zelensky is leading the country into a debt pit,” he added.

Congress passed legislation invoking the 1941 Lend-Lease Act originally proposed by former President Franklin Roosevelt to assist the British Army in its fight against the Nazis. The goal is to allow the Biden government to offer weapons in the form of a loan to Ukraine, the New York Times reported.
