Russia to Allocate 10.6 Billion Rubles to Monitor Crypto Transactions

Rosfinmonitoring will receive 10.61 billion rubles by 2030 to develop a digital platform to combat money laundering. One of its functions will be monitoring cryptocurrency transactions, ensuring the deanonymization of bitcoin wallet owners, they write local media.

According to the Digital Public Administration project, five federal executive bodies will be connected to the platform under the coordination of Rosfinmonitoring.

The solution is based on the Transparent Blockchain tool, which is capable of clustering suspicious transactions with cryptocurrencies. In addition to creating a list of suspected violators, Rosfinmonitoring will be able to request information from legal entities and individual entrepreneurs about their transactions with digital currency obtained through mining.

In April, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Rosfinmonitoring and five major banks launched a pilot to establish links between users’ fiat and cryptocurrency transactions.

Since July 25, Russian banks have introduced a new mechanism for returning funds stolen by fraudsters. It can significantly complicate P2P operations for exchanging cryptocurrencies.
