Russia: ‘Ukraine responsible for rocket hitting residential complex in Kyiv’

Russia’s Defense Ministry said today that a missile that struck a residential complex in Kyiv last weekend may be the result of a failure of the Ukrainian air defense.

Ukraine says Russia struck the capital, Kiev, at the weekend for the first time in weeks, with US President Joe Biden saying the attacks were further evidence of Russia’s “barbarism” in its attacks on Ukraine.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said in a statement that it believed a Ukrainian Buk missile system had intercepted an S-300 missile which then “crashed into a residential complex”.

Russia says four rockets fired at an arms factory in Kyiv hit their targets.

Moscow has repeatedly denied that it is pursuing urban goals.
