It is “very positive” that experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) were able to inspect the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine yesterday, Thursday, even if it is “too early” to assess their conclusions, the Kremlin said today .
“Overall, we find it very positive that the delegation arrived and started working despite the difficulties and problems,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“It’s too early to make an assessment (…) The team is still there, so it’s still too early, but the most important thing is that the mission is there,” he added.
The inspection of the station yesterday, Thursday, by the IAEA chief Rafael Grossi, was expected for some time, after weeks of bombing that fueled fears of a nuclear disaster.
Some members of the IAEA mission left the station last night, but others remained on site.
