Russia: Villagers Ask Angela Merkel to Repair Roads

The inhabitants of the village of Ano Karbus in the Omsk region Russia addressed to the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel begging them to help repair the village’s main road, provoking a reaction from the Kremlin, which, according to its spokesman, attributed the residents’ energy to their indignation at the indifference of the local authorities, but stressed that they should turn to the local authorities, reports the RES.

The Kremlin justified the action of the inhabitants

“In this case, it is a perfectly justified anger of the inhabitants of this village. “This is utter negligence and indifference on the part of the regional authorities,” said his spokesman. Kremlin Dmitry Peshkov, expressing confidence that, following the widespread publicity of the matter, “the regional authorities will look into the matter and take action”. At the same time, he expressed his question about this appeal, saying that “it is very difficult for anyone to understand such actions” of the villagers, who decided to ask for the assistance of the German government. “And of course they should turn to the municipal and regional authorities,” he said.

Peshkov also acknowledged that road problems in the region remain in many other parts of the country. Earlier, local authorities in the Omsk region announced that the road repair program was not approved in 2021 due to budget changes, due to which its implementation was postponed to 2022.
