In Russia, a system of analysis from CCTV cameras may appear, which will identify people who smoke in the wrong places. This was reported by the RT edition with reference to the press service of the NTI Platform. It will become part of an already existing analytical system that uses machine vision. Such a system analyzes video from surveillance cameras in real time, identifies people on them, monitors their behavior and movement.
The new system will have a software module for detecting smokers, recording the facts of smoking cigarettes or vapes. It can be used in places where smoking is prohibited, for example, in factories, parks, train stations, and so on. Such a solution will help to fix violations in time, in order to first of all eliminate the likelihood of a fire and fire hazardous situations.
It is reported that in the process of creating an algorithm for identifying smokers, students of Russian universities will be involved, who take part in the design and educational intensives of the NTI University “20.35”.
