Russia wants to subsidize a 25% discount on electric cars on credit or lease

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has published draft government decrees, from which it follows that concessional car loans and concessional leasing programs will apply to electric vehicles. Earlier this was reported in the concept for the development of electric transport in Russia until 2030, where manufacturers were promised subsidies, financial assistance in the construction of factories and special contracts.

According to the Interfax edition, one of the projects talks about subsidizing discounts on electric vehicles. According to the offer, the discount will be 25% of the price, but not more than 625 thousand rubles. At the same time, there will be no restrictions on the cost of an electric car to participate in the program. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov noted that preferential car loans will become available to employees of institutions of the state education system. Previously, they could only be obtained by Russian citizens buying their first car, families with children, employees of medical state institutions and car owners who hand over cars over 6 years old to trade-in and owned for more than 1 year.

The draft decree on the expansion of the preferential car leasing program involves the addition of electric vehicles to the list of vehicles with a discount of 25% of the cost, but not more than 625 thousand rubles. For both programs, there is one requirement – cars with internal combustion engines must gain 1.5 thousand localization points, and electric cars must be produced in Russia under a special investment contract.

To date, programs of state support for demand in the automotive industry, including concessional lending and leasing, have been suspended. For the next year, about 10 billion rubles have already been allocated to support demand, and about half of this amount is planned for car loans and leasing.
