Russia warns US: military aid to Kyiv will have ‘unpredictable consequences’

Russia issued a formal protest to the United States this week, warning the US government of “unforeseen consequences” over the large increase in its military aid to Ukraine, according to press reports.

According to the statement, Moscow warns the United States and NATO against sending “more sensitive” weapons to Ukraine, saying that such military equipment would add fuel to the fire and could have “unpredictable consequences.” Washington Post.

The warning came as US President Joe Biden pledged $ 800 million in new military aid to Ukraine, including helicopters and armored personnel carriers.

“What the Russians are telling us privately is exactly what we are telling the world in public, that the massive aid we are providing to our Ukrainian partners is proving remarkably effective,” said a senior US official, quoted by the Washington Post.

The State Department declined to comment.

According to the New York Times, this announcement was made through the usual diplomatic channel and is not signed by a high-ranking Russian official.

CNN, for its part, quoted a source familiar with the matter as saying that this official protest could mean that Moscow is preparing to take a more aggressive stance against the US and NATO.

Joe Biden on Wednesday gave the green light for a new massive military aid to Ukraine, with heavier equipment than has been delivered so far.

These new US deliveries will include some “of the very effective equipment we have already delivered” to Ukraine, but also “new capabilities”, including mainly “artillery systems” and “armored personnel carriers”, the US government said.
